What is a retrofit solution?

A retrofit solution describes the measures taken to allow new or updated parts to be fitted to old or outdated systems. It is necessary when the design of a large assembly is changed or revised due to upgrades, product development or legislation. If a customer with an old version of the product needs to purchase an updated part, then retrofit parts and assembling techniques are required in order to ensure it fits and operates correctly.

In the case of diesel vehicles, new legislation and rules have come into effect which require vehicles to be more energy efficient and to release less harmful gases into the environment. Many cities are introducing Clean Air Zones (CAZ) or Low Emission Zones (LEZ) which issue daily charges to vehicles who are not compliant.

Excalibre Technologies can retrofit diesel vehicles for fleets or individuals with the Proventia NOxBUSTER® City DPF + SCR systems. It enables diesel vehicles (such as buses, coaches, refuse collection vehicles and trucks) to be upgraded to the Euro VI emission level.

Proventia are the leading developer and manufacturer of retrofit and OE emission control systems. Their systems have full TfL and CVRAS approval ensuring compliance with the UK’s “Ultra Low Emission Zone” (ULEZ) and “Clean Air Zones”.
